According to Volodymyr Zelensky, Kyiv’s new weapon, Palianytsia, is quicker and more potent than the drones it has been using against Russia.
Saturday saw the “successful” testing of a new long-range drone missile by the Ukrainian military, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, who also referred to Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “sick old man from Red Square,” according to Reuters.
In a video speech on the eve of Ukraine’s 33rd Independence Day, Zelensky made the comments. It was the third anniversary of Ukraine’s independence after Russia invaded its neighbor on a large basis in February 2022.
During his speech, Zelensky said that the new weapon, Palianytsia, was both quicker and more potent than the drones that Kyiv had previously employed in its conflict with Russia.
“Our adversary will be aware of the Ukrainian method of retribution. Valuable, balanced, and far-sighted,” he remarked, as reported by Reuters.
The president of Ukraine further stated that a successful strike on a target in Russia had been carried out using a new type of Ukrainian weaponry, but he did not specify the purpose of the strike or the location of the target.
On this occasion, 115 prisoners of war were swapped between Russia and Ukraine.
Zelensky calls Putin ‘Sick old man’
Zelensky criticized Moscow’s frequent threats of a nuclear strike and specifically mentioned Russian President Vladimir Putin in his Independence Day speech.
“A sick old man from Red Square who constantly threatens everyone with the red button will not dictate any of his red lines to us,” the video shows him saying.
Additionally, he claimed that although Russia sought to “destroy” Ukraine, the conflict has “returned to its home”.
Russia just has one goal in mind: to destroy America. Rather, we commemorate Ukraine’s 33rd Independence Day today. Furthermore, Zelensky stated, “What the enemy brought to our land has now returned to its home.”
“Anyone who wants to sow evil on our land will reap its fruit on their territory,” he added. “This is not a prediction, not gloating, not blind revenge. It is justice.”
