Chicago will be the host city for Comedy Central’s late-night program this week.
During the convention, the Comedy Central late-night program will be aired from Chicago. It will be based in the Athenaeum Center for Thought & Culture in the Lakeview section of the city, which is a few miles north of the United Center celebrations. Below is a picture of the set against the backdrop of the Chicago cityscape.
On Thursday, the last night of the conference, Jon Stewart will headline a live performance, as The Hollywood Reporter disclosed in June. (The Daily Show had also intended to attend the Republican convention in Milwaukee in July, but after the attempt on candidate Donald Trump’s life, the on-site performances were canceled.) With a guest lineup confirmed and the show’s correspondents taking on hosting responsibilities from Monday through Wednesday, the remainder of the week is now also booked.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is expected to be the guest on Monday’s program, which will be hosted by Michael Kosta. On Tuesday, Desi Lydic will interview Illinois Representative Lauren Underwood from the anchor desk. The guest on Wednesday’s broadcast will be Maryland Governor Wes Moore, who will be hosted by Jordan Klepper. A half-hour later than the show’s customary schedule, on Thursday at 11:30 p.m. ET, Stewart will round up the week with a live transmission. (The Monday through Wednesday programs will be recorded a few hours in advance of their scheduled 11 p.m. broadcast.)
Except for 2020, when the show was produced remotely and the conventions were significantly reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Daily Show has been traveling to the main party political conventions since 2000.
