In the Kozhikode taluk, 24 relief camps have been put up to house 298 persons. There are now eight camps at the Thamarassery Taluk (374 people), seven camps in Koilandy Taluk (161 people), and two camps at the Vadakara Taluk (21 people).
The state of Kerala will observe formal mourning on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the administration.
Among those taking part in the rescue efforts at the Chooralmala landslide site in Wayanad are the army and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The river is in spate, and soldiers were carried across it using ropes.

Early on Tuesday, a series of landslides occurred in the mountainous regions of Kerala’s Wayanad district due to extremely heavy rain. Many were thought to be buried beneath the rubble.
Red alert in Kerala
Eight districts in Kerala are under a red alert due to heavy rain, according to the meteorology office. The districts of Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasargod are under a red alert. For today, the districts of Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Ernakulam are under an orange alert.
