When Sushmita Sen was eighteen, her parents warned her, “Be careful with your words in interviews, as there is a lot riding on your shoulders.”
During a recent podcast, Sushmita Sen was the first guest on Rhea Chakraborty’s YouTube channel. In the course of the interview, Sushmita talked openly about her experiences in life and profession. She also revealed that, when she was just eighteen years old, her parents had teased her for being too talkative and using the term “sex” in interviews. What Sushmita said
“The society was not as open at that time as it is now,” Sushmita remarked. It made me say “haw.” Everything was so “aww” back then that my parents, Mama and Baba, had to sit me down and tell me to try to control my speech a little bit because I had a lot riding on my shoulders. Why bring up “sex” in an interview when you’re eighteen? Shobhaa De is disparaging you in her letter.
‘In an interview, I brought up the word sex on purpose’
“And I remember her name coming up specifically, you know, Bengali,” she went on. Bengalis are thought to be highly intelligent. Therefore, it wasn’t the gossipy stories that bothered me, it was the intelligent ones. It’s cool, I understood. Then, during an interview with Shobhaa De, I purposefully brought up the topic of “sex.” brought up the subject since none of the things I aspired to be fit the description of “Miss Universe” or “the most beautiful person.” I aspired to be a fully free human being, one who is emancipated. I so made an attempt to become the first Miss Universe of India.”
Regarding her professional life, Sushmita most recently starred in the Disney+ Hotstar series finale, Aarya – Antim Vaar. Alongside Pratyaksh Panwar, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Maya Sarao, Ila Arun, Sikandar Kher, Indraneil Sengupta, Vikas Kumar, and Shweta Pasricha, the show also starred these actors.
