The former prime minister of Bangladesh has been residing in Delhi since her removal from office on August 5.
Congressman and former diplomat Shashi Tharoor said that it would have been a “disgrace” for India to have abandoned Sheikh Hasina after her removal as Bangladesh’s prime minister.
Congress politician and former prime minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, said that it would have been a “disgrace” if India had not assisted her after her removal from office.India would have been ashamed if we hadn’t assisted her.If we had mistreated our friend, no one would have wanted to be friends with us. All of the Indian leaders have been in good contact with Hasina ji. He remarked, “She is India’s friend, and India is her friend.
As the former minister of state for external affairs put it, “one doesn’t think twice before extending helping hand when a friend is in trouble.”
“I’m glad the administration is taking this action. Honestly, I couldn’t have asked for anything less. I believe that as Indians, we have certain values that we should uphold. By bringing her here and seeing to it that she is secure, the government has done the right thing. How long she wants to stay is not our concern. He said, “We should be happy that we supported a buddy when her physical safety was in jeopardy.
Following a month-long rebellion against her spearheaded by students, Sheikh Hasina resigned as Bangladesh’s prime minister on August 5 and traveled from Dhaka to Delhi. She arrived and has been stationed at the Indian Air Force (IAF) base at Hindon in Ghaziabad, close to Delhi.
She was reportedly going to apply for asylum in the US or the UK. When asked if it would accept her request, should it be made, the UK reacted nay; in the meanwhile, the US apparently canceled the veteran politician’s visa.
The day following Hasina’s removal, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar told the Rajya Sabha that she had asked the government for permission to travel to India on short notice.
