A recent HSBC commercial that celebrated Indian cuisine included Priyanka Chopra. The actor discussed her opinions on the subject.
In a recent HSBC commercial, Priyanka Chopra talked about how much she loves Indian food. She shared the new advertisement on Instagram and said that nothing tastes better from home than Indian food. “Nothing reminds us of home more than food, especially when you’re living abroad… our favorite meal and flavors intertwined with our core memories,” Priyanka said as a caption after posting the video to Instagram.
She states, “I was born in India,” in the video. I currently reside in America. I adore eating and am a huge foodie. Because food unites people like nothing else, it is vital to community life. When you relocate across the globe, food is what reunites you with your safety net and gives you a sense of community.”
Before talking about the food the chef will be preparing for the three diaspora couples she encounters in the advertisement, she meets with him. As she joins them in sharing stories over steaming hot desi food, one person even makes fun of her moniker, Piggy Chops.

Speaking candidly, Priyanka expressed how parathas bring back memories of her childhood home, stating, “Since moving, my one constant has been a sudden need for a particular Indian dish. Because ghee was concealed within her parathas, my grandmother used to prepare something called ghum parathas. I believe that parathas are only connected to my family. I connect Sunday mornings with.
Just a few hours prior, Priyanka had posted a photo of her mother Madhu Chopra’s paratha and a bowl full of palak stew topped with cream. She shared it on social media, writing with the heart eyes emoji, “When you come home to mom after a long day shoot.”
Fans react
In response to Priyanka’s advertisement, fans dubbed her a “desi girl” at heart. “Oh, desi girl, we miss you in India,” a fan wrote. “This is so warm and eloquently presented—speaks for all of us who have left India and try to retreat our memories through food,” another person commented on the post by @priyankachopra. Many additional admirers also left heart-emoji-filled comments that said “desi girl.”
