Manu Bhaker was greeted with great fanfare upon her return to India after making Olympic history by winning bronze in two different sports.
Today in the national capital, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi hosted an appointment at her 10, Janpath house with Olympic pistol shooter Manu Bhaker, who created history by capturing two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics.
In honor of Bhaker’s outstanding accomplishment of winning bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol competition and the 10m air pistol mixed team event, in which she teamed with Sarabjot Singh, the Congress party released a photo of Bhaker with Sonia Gandhi.
The Congress party wrote on X, “Today Manu Bhaker, who brought glory to the country by winning two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics, met CPP Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi.”
Bhaker achieved remarkable achievement at the Paris Games at the age of 22. She is the first Indian to accomplish such a feat since the 1900 Olympics when British-Indian sprinter Norman Pritchard won two silver medals in the 200-meter sprint and 200-meter hurdle events.
Rapturous reception at Delhi airport
Bhaker was greeted with joy by hundreds of admirers at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday after arriving back in India. The audience had assembled well in advance of her arrival and welcomed her with jubilant cheers, even in spite of the precipitation in the morning.
Bouquets, garlands, and traditional dhol drums were used to greet Bhaker and her coach, Jaspal Ranam, as they exited the airport. Rose petals were also thrown on them.
Bhaker stated her will to succeed in the forthcoming 2028 Los Angeles Olympics while thinking back on her accomplishments and future objectives. “After the end of one Olympics, I already have the next one on my mind, and the journey for LA 2028 has already begun,” Bhaker stated to PTI Videos.
Before beginning her preparation for upcoming events, she intends to take a little vacation to spend time with her family and concentrate on her fitness.
“I hope my performance stays strong, and I continue to work hard and deliver good results,” she stated.
