During her conversation about supporting women of color, Meghan emphasized the significance of teaching young girls how to use their voices.
Recently, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry left for a quick four days in Colombia. During their last visit, Meghan and Vice President Francia Marquez participated in a panel discussion titled “Afro-Descendant Women and Power: Voice of Equity” in the Colombian city of Cali. She emphasized that young girls must learn how to use their voices to be heard when speaking about the issue of empowering women of color (Page Six).
Making sure that young girls feel as though their voices are being heard is important to us and the work we do with the Archewell Foundation, as well as the work I do as a mother, Meghan added. During her brief remarks, the Duchess praised Prince Harry, stating that the two of them “work incredibly well together as a team.”
She continued by saying that young males need to be taught to listen to girls as well as how to express themselves. As a mother, I definitely try to set an example for our three-year-old daughter, who has discovered her voice, and we’re really proud of her,” Meghan added.
“This is how, as I mentioned earlier, we establish the circumstances where young ladies and girls will know that if someone else is pushing them to speak up and be heard, that’s what they will do as well,” the speaker went on. “They’ll also establish a very different environment than so many of us grew up in where our voices were meant to be smaller.”
