When Prince Harry visited Buckingham Palace in May for the Invictus Games anniversary, King Charles III invited him to stay. However, Prince Harry turned down the offer.
During his brief trip to the UK in May for a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral commemorating the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, Prince Harry allegedly declined an invitation from his father, King Charles III, to remain at Buckingham Palace. The Duke declined to remain at the royal mansion in favor of a hotel stay.
Although it was previously known that Harry had turned down the invitation to stay on a royal estate, recent information obtained by The Times indicates that the lodging that was explicitly extended to him was located within Buckingham Palace.
“I’m not sure what else the King could have accomplished. He made Harry an offer to remain at Buckingham Palace, but the insider told The Times that it didn’t appear to be good enough.
“It was unclear exactly what the Duke had in mind. When it came to scheduling appointments and therapy, the King’s diary was full with blanks.
“It is even more peculiar that Harry chose to stay in a hotel when the Palace would logically provide maximum security,” they continued.
King Charles snubbed Prince Harry time to time
Harry didn’t meet the King, even though he was close by at Clarence House when Harry was there. According to reports, the monarch’s “full programme” is to blame for this. “Of course, the duke is understanding of his father’s diary commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon,” a representative for the Duke said.
Many royal analysts, however, also conjectured that Prince William, being “difficult,” was “preventing” Prince Harry from having a father-son reunion.
Following the news of the King’s cancer diagnosis, the Duke quickly traveled across the Atlantic to be with his father, which resulted in Harry and Charles’ most recent encounter. Before Charles left for Sandringham, the two were said to have spent forty-five minutes together at Clarence House.
Harry’s relationship with the rest of the royal family—especially with his father and brother, Prince William—remains difficult despite their brief reunion, partly because of the back-to-back royal disclosures in both his tell-all Netflix docuseries and memoir, Spare.
