Before Kamala Harris’ historic DNC speech on Thursday, her granddaughters took the stage to give an unusual instruction to the gathering crowd.
Before Kamala Harris made history on the last night of the Democratic National Convention, her granddaughters ascended the platform to provide an unusual lesson to the gathered crowd.
Actor Kerry Washington introduced the two girls, who then volunteered to instruct the audience on how to say the US Vice President’s name correctly. This was an attempt to mock the Democrat, particularly Harris, who is often mispronounced by her opponents.
The former president makes fun of her name by purposefully pronouncing it incorrectly. Trump often mentioned US Vice President during his first rally after Harris declared her run for president. He mispronounced “Kamala” all the time.
Harris’s first name includes elements of her Indian heritage. Pronounced “Comma-la,” it means “lotus flower.” Trump consistently pronounces her name as “Kah-MAH-la.”
In an address, he said he “couldn’t care less” if he mispronounced Harris’s name, asserting that his opponent, a Democrat, couldn’t even pronounce her own name right.

Amara and Leela’s cute appearance on DNC stage
Amara, eight, and Leela, six, wore a blue frock and a pink pantsuit. Meena Harris, Kamala Harris’s niece, is the mother of these daughters.
Kerry Washington said that she has noticed that some people seem to be having trouble pronouncing “our future president’s name” correctly before presenting them to the applauding audience. “Uncertainty is natural. It’s not disrespect. We will thus assist everyone in getting it correct tonight.
“You say ‘comma’ like the comma in a sentence first,” Amara said. “Then you say ‘la’ like la-la-la-la-la,” Leela hurriedly added.

The gathered audience retorted, “Comma! La!, Comma! La!, Kama La.”
Their mother also made an appearance on stage to talk about her experiences growing up with Kamala.
“I was raised in Oakland, California, in a home full of amazing women, including my mom, my grandparents, and my aunt, who taught me the value of service by supporting her sister, a 17-year-old single mother who fights for the rights of American citizens while also preparing Sunday dinner for the family. She gave me direction. She’s now raising my own kids, and I have no doubt that she will lead our nation forward,” she said.
One person commented on the adorable kids’ video that went viral on X, saying, “They love their auntie.” They were flawless! And the following generation continues to wear pantsuits!”
“This is so goddamn cute I think I’m dying,” another wrote.
