Kamala Harris for President? It was predicted by The Simpsons! In keeping with its heritage, let’s examine some significant US election dates that the show ominously anticipated.
Is America finally prepared to have its very own Madame President? That, however, will only be revealed by the presidential surveys that are expected to be conducted this winter. We have a lot more reliable sources on hand who are always aware of what’s going on, even though political rallies, news hour arguments, and endless amounts of statistical data may only give you a vague indication of where the wind is currently blowing. The Simpson Family! Though we would argue that the pun is intended, the startling and downright unsettling precision with which the animated sitcom from the 1980s has been forecasting significant world events makes it a rather trustworthy source (of course). Here’s a look at The Simpsons’ unsettling talent for satirically “predicting the future,” from Joe Biden’s sudden refusal to accept the Democratic Party nomination to his enthusiastic support of Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.
Madame president?
The United States of America finds itself at exactly the same crossroads as it did in 2016. About eight years ago, Hillary Clinton gave in to Donald Trump, who won handily and signaled the start of his divisive tenure as President of the United States. Following his defeat by the current President Joe Biden in 2020, Trump has made a strong comeback in an apparent attempt to secure a rematch. As the nation (and the globe) prepared for Biden vs. Trump 2.0, Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the US Presidential election and endorsed his dependable Vice President, Kamala Harris, as the Democratic Party’s face instead, in a suspenseful narrative twist.
My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best… pic.twitter.com/x8DnvuImJV

Although this will go down in history books, The Simpsons foresaw this possibility 24 years ago! A scene from season 11’s episode 17 from 2000 features President of the United States Lisa Simpson discussing the fiscal problem that ‘President Trump’ has engineered and that she must now handle. Harris is being compared to Lisa since the latter’s purple blazer dress from Sergio Hudson and Christopher John Rogers on inauguration day 2021 is strikingly similar to the former’s purple pantsuit with a necklace of pearls.
The 17th episode of the 11th season of The Simpsons shows Lisa Simpson as the first female president of the United States, dressed similarly to Kamala Harris at Joe Biden's inauguration.

Trump for President
A short while ago, the assassination attempt on Donald Trump had the internet in utter amazement. A gunshot that skimmed Trump’s right ear during his speech at a July 13 event in Pennsylvania left a 2-cm gash. Numerous analyses of the incident since then have shown that the bullet was intended for his head, but it missed him due to a slight tilt of the head.

Many people think that The Simpsons foresaw the attempted assassination of the former president because of a sequence of pictures that purportedly depicted him in a coffin. Even if those pictures were quickly shown to be phony, it is impossible to ignore the fact that The Simpsons foresaw Trump’s presidential reign in a season 11 episode titled “Bart to the Future,” decades before he even declared his candidacy.
Trump’s indictments
In US politics, 2023 was a completely insane year, with Trump getting arrested on two federal and two state criminal counts. The case is still being developed. Apart from the specifics, The Simpsons also predicted that Trump would be arrested in a 1994 episode from season five called “Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy.” In the episode, Kent Brockman, the TV anchor from Springfield, announces that the president has been taken into custody as he wraps up his broadcast. Naturally, the statement was quickly linked to Trump’s indictments on the internet.

Trump’s second run for office
Not only did the Simpsons correctly predict Trump’s presidential campaign, but they also correctly predicted that he would not seek office again until 2024. A 2015 Simpsons episode features a blink-and-miss shot of Homer Simpson flying over the words “Trump 2024.” Recall that this occurred two years prior to his initial inauguration as the 45th President of the United States in January 2017.
False alarm: Trump vs Biden’s presidential debate
“Old man yells at old man” might seem like a harsh and ageist way to sum up the first round of the US presidential debate, which took place in Ohio on June 27, but it appears that the internet agrees. Throughout the debate, there were multiple occasions where Trump and Biden spoke over and interrupted one other. A newspaper with the caption, “Old man yells at old man,” and an accompanying image was used in a Simpsons episode, according to viral photos making the rounds on the internet. Comparable to the Simpson-coded pictures of Trump in a coffin, this also seemed rather plausible. But soon after, the same was refuted, with the headline “Old man” revealing that the original photograph showed one man, not two.

However, incidents such as these bear witness to the internet’s infatuation with The Simpsons’ ability to foretell the future – something that is indisputable. This acts as a window into a parallel discussion about how to distinguish fact from fiction in the digital age, particularly when it comes to events that are significant to the entire world.
