‘Kalki 2898 AD’ saw a big drop in its collection on its fourth Monday at the box office. With ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ releasing this weekend, it will be interesting to see how it manages to beat ‘Jawan’.
In Short
- ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ collected its lowest single-day business
- The film will now face ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ at the box office
- It is still aiming to surpass the lifetime collection of ‘Jawan’
On the fourth Monday, “Kalki 2898 AD” received its lowest-ever single-day revenue. According to the trade website Sacnilk, the movie brought in about Rs 2 crore on Day 26 at the domestic box office, bringing its total earnings to Rs 618.85 crore. Even though there was no competition from any new releases in the Tamil and Telugu markets, it too displayed a significant decline from its collections from the previous week.
By the end of its fourth weekend in India, the Nag Ashwin-directed film had crossed the milestone of Rs 600 crore, opening the door to surpass ‘Jawan’s’ lifetime collection. The movie is anticipated to surpass the Rs 640.25 crore that the Shah Rukh Khan picture brought in over its entire theatrical run. Despite a decline in box office receipts, “Kalki 2898 AD” is expected to surpass this milestone in the near future, ranking as the fourth highest-grossing Indian film in history.

“Kalki 2898 AD” has already surpassed the much sought-after threshold of Rs 1000 crore in box office revenue worldwide. The movie took almost 25 days to do this, and as of right now, its gross is Rs 1002.8 crore. Should it continue at this rate and weather the ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ storm this weekend, it may even surpass Jawan’s global box office take. ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has the potential to surpass the Rs 1160 crore gross that the Atlee-directed film amassed over its global box office run.
But now, for this science-fiction drama, things won’t be so simple. The superhero movie starring Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds is taking off in India’s advance sales and is predicted to have one of the largest openings for a Hollywood production. Witnessing ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ take on this Marvel movie and ultimately experience some genuine rivalry at the box office could be interesting.
