Vedaa, starring John Abraham and Sharvari, receives a U/A certificate from the CBFC after approval. August 15 is when the movie opens in theaters.
Vedaa, starring John Abraham and Sharvari, is scheduled for release on August 15. A few weeks back, the film’s producers formally announced that the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had not yet granted the movie its approval. Subsequently, there were allegations claiming that the CBFC approved the movie unaltered. According to a recent report by Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC’s Revising Committee has now ordered a few adjustments.
What are the new changes?
According to the report, voiceover and a modified disclaimer lasting one to sixteen seconds were requested to be included. It was asked that a conversation that included disparaging remarks about women and social identities be changed. A 2-minute, 16-second hanging sequence was then removed. When referring to the Jodhpur High Court, the name “Jodhpur” was omitted, and it was requested that images of violence within the court’s walls be toned down by 30%. As a result, the filmmakers were forced to remove 6 minutes and 15 seconds from the movie.
There have also been a few more adjustments. According to the same allegation, a character in the movie is seen listening to a Sanskrit shloka audio track on a cell phone. The CBFC allegedly removed this music. Furthermore, the derogatory term “behenkhor” has been substituted with “bana.” The creators were also instructed to obfuscate images showing cash notes being ripped apart. It was also requested that the line in the movie that reads, “Brahmin son…Shudra’s son,” be removed.
9 minutes and 14 seconds deleted
Nine minutes and fourteen seconds were deleted from the original version of the picture as a result of these modifications. The movie received a U/A certificate on August 6. “Padma Shri Ramesh Patange was the Presiding Officer of the RC,” the article cited another source as stating. It is well known that he approves movies about which the EC has doubts. He just passed the contentious movie Hamare Baraah, thus it should come as no surprise that he also passed Vedaa, although with some changes.
Aseem Arora is the producer of Vedaa, with support from JA Entertainment, Emmay Entertainment, and Zee Studios.
