Two suspects are said to have been taken into custody, one of them is a 19-year-old who resides with his parents close to Vienna.
According to reports, police were able to barely thwart an ISIS-affiliated plot to assault a Taylor Swift performance in Austria. On August 7, Wednesday, two individuals were taken into custody.
Two men and a 19-year-old who lived with his parents close to Vienna were among the accused. After searching the house, police apprehended them. According to the Austrian publication Kronen Zeitung, the home’s contents included several chemicals and materials that may have been used to create bombs.
Swift’s performances in Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium, where she will be performing as part of her Eras Tour, were thought to be the objective of the suspects’ plans. The performances are slated for the evenings of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
“The accused offender was preoccupied with the Taylor Swift performances. Franz Ruf, the Austrian Director General for Public Safety, stated that preparatory steps had been noticed.
“A tangible danger has been avoided,” he continued. Ruf said that officials had not yet deemed the performances to be entirely safe. Security measures at the performances have been tightened, and investigations into other collaborators are still ongoing.
It’s possible that in July, the 19-year-old suspect swore allegiance to ISIS. He is a citizen of Austria. It’s thought that both individuals developed radicalized internet ideologies.
Barracuda, Swift’s Austrian gig producer, revealed the information on Instagram. “We have to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety as government officials have confirmed a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium,” the show promoter stated.
When Morgan Wallen’s concert was delayed due to threats
This event happened a few days after Morgan Wallen’s Kansas City concert had to be postponed because of a “terroristic threat.” In relation to a threat made on social media, a guy was taken into custody. According to the article, the suspect was going after two men who were backstage with Wallen; it was implied that these individuals were Travis Kelce, Swift’s boyfriend, and Patrick Mahomes.
The 23-year-old suspect, Aaron Brown III, of Winchester, Illinois, was charged with second-degree terrorist threat, a Class E felony. He is accused of threatening to shoot two Kansas City Chiefs organization members who were present at the Arrowhead Stadium performance.
