New Delhi: Amid growing concerns that Iran will retaliate against Israel following the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, India on Friday advised its people residing in Israel to stay near to safety shelters and refrain from making needless trips.
Indian people in Israel were encouraged to “stay vigilant and adhere to safety protocols as advised by the local authorities” in a statement released by the Indian embassy in Tel Aviv.
Indians were advised to “exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel within the country, and stay close to safety shelters,” according to the advice. To guarantee the safety of all Indian people, the embassy stated that it is closely observing the situation and in communication with Israeli authorities.
There are over 26,000 Indian residents in Israel, the majority of whom look after the elderly. In addition, there are students, workers in the construction and agricultural industries, IT specialists, and diamond dealers. Since the beginning of the conflict with Hamas in October of last year, there have been more Indians in the nation as a result of Israel recruiting more Indians to take the place of Palestinian laborers.
Following the rise of tensions due to the assassination of Hamas and Hezbollah officials, the Indian embassy in Beirut had the day before advised Indian people living in Lebanon to leave due to “potential threats in the region.” This was the recommendation issued by the Indian embassy in Tel Aviv. In Lebanon, there are about 4,000 Indian citizens.
Best Following Haniyeh’s death in Tehran, Iranian authorities were scheduled to meet with representatives of regional allies from Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen to consider taking revenge against Israel. Following the execution of Hezbollah leader Fuad Shukr in an Israeli attack in Beirut on Tuesday and the murder of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran on Wednesday, there is a potential for further hostilities between Israel, Iran, and its allies in the area.
When an explosion tore through the Tehran building where Haniyeh was residing, he was murdered along with his security. He was in Iran during Masoud Pezeshkian’s inauguration as the next president. Leaders in Iran and Hamas both attributed the strike that killed him on Israel.
