The individual stated that he was fired by SpiceJet, although he never received a notification.
A SpiceJet cabin crew member alleges that since he complained about the job pressure negatively affecting his mental health, he has not been assigned any flight tasks for a month. He said on hindustantimes.com that his mental health deteriorated when he joined SpiceJet. He also said that he was afraid to criticize the airline.
“My family belongs to the middle class. Speaking out against the firm is a really brave move for me, and I’m really terrified,” the guy remarked.
He said that after sending the airline many emails about his mental state, it was all in vain. He said that he brought up a number of concerns in his initial email, including unpaid wages and benefits, postponed travel dates, failure to submit provident fund (PF), difficult working circumstances, and more. He revealed that he had been grounded and had his flight itineraries withdrawn after being outspoken about these issues.
He was asked to meet with the HR staff three days after being grounded. He asserted, nonetheless, that he received no resolution. He told HT.com, “The HR did not have any answer regarding my email.”
“I sent out a third email about my mental health, and it was once again disregarded. I had moments of suicidal thoughts. I then began sharing my difficulties on social media. The business ignored me and left me on my own. Even the company’s WhatsApp group was deleted from me. They cut off all lines of contact.”
When he started talking openly about his problems on Instagram, things became worse. He complained about SpiceJet’s tardiness in paying staff members in a widely shared video, making light of the company’s compensation delays by joking about driving an e-rickshaw. His official work email was deleted after the video.
Subsequently, the member of the cabin crew expressed his worries about providing for his family. “They are unaware that anything is going on; my father is retired. How do I inform them?”
“I’m depressed and numb. I have been waiting at home since July 3 without receiving any information about my work. Is it OK to stop talking to a worker? HR no longer communicates with me at all. I’m really concerned.” He emphasized that he had not received any notice of termination from SpiceJet.
How did SpiceJet respond to this employee’s allegations?
SpiceJet was contacted by HT.com to provide a statement. “We want to clarify that Mr. Deepak Goswami is no longer an employee of SpiceJet,” a SpiceJet representative stated. It’s critical to provide the facts truthfully since irate ex-employees might fabricate false accusations to harm the business. This is a scenario that any organization, including yours, may encounter. Due to several instances of serious misbehavior and disciplinary issues—which were detailed in two warning letters issued during the previous five months—Mr. Goswami’s employment was terminated. His actions persisted in breaching corporate regulations even after he was given several warnings and chances to behave differently.”
“Mr. Goswami joined the company in February 2024,” the airline continued. On July 1, he conducted his final flight with SpiceJet. Because of disciplinary issues and his engagement in anti-company actions, he was grounded on July 3. Nevertheless, on July 8, he was summoned for a meeting and given an opportunity to defend his conduct. He started sharing footage of himself in uniform on social media after this meeting. He declined to come to a second meeting that was summoned to examine his acts. SpiceJet follows its standards to the letter, and what was done to Mr. Goswami was compliant with these guidelines. He is making false statements in an effort to discredit SpiceJet for attention, and we will take the proper action to correct this defamation.”
