In response to thousands of fans attending the Munich show for free, Taylor Swift said: “…whether you’re at the stadium or not.”
Getting a ticket for Taylor Swift’s sold-out, record-breaking Eras Tour is a marathon that few people manage to finish. But this week in Munich, Germany, hundreds of Swifties won free tickets to the pop sensation’s show—an unbelievable event that took place as part of the exact globe tour that helped make the “Anti-Hero” singer a billionaire this year.
Tens of thousands of concertgoers crammed into the Olympic Hill, also known as the Olympiaberg, which is one of the city’s highest points in southern Germany. Pictures of throngs of fans congregating at the hilltop near the Olympic Stadium went viral online this past weekend. According to the Associated Press, local police estimated that 25,000 people had congregated there on Saturday. According to some estimates, the figure was as high as 40,000.
Taylor Swift’s last Eras Tour show in Germany was on Sunday
When the fans came back to the grassy area on Sunday, the sight was repeated, with some comparing the hill’s faraway appearance to that of an anthill. These spectators essentially won the lotto with a free view of Swift’s completely sold-out mega-hit world tour stop in Germany, perched high above the neighboring Olympic Stadium.
People stayed on their posts all weekend long in spite of the intense heat, especially as Sunday’s performance marked Taylor’s final Eras Tour stop in Germany. Furthermore, neither the performer nor the event planners dissuaded the audience positioned outside the arena from taking in the complimentary performance. On the contrary, the latter even gave the individuals emergency blankets and drink so they could protect themselves from the sun.

The “Reputation” album’s creator openly expressed her gratitude for their commitment to attending her performance. Swift estimated, “We are lucky enough to get to play this show for 74,000 beautiful people in this stadium, and if the reports are correct, about 50,000 beautiful people outside the stadium,” during her Sunday night jaunt in Germany.

Her message was furthered by a fan-shot concert video that went viral on social media: “Thank you for attending the Eras Tour, whether you’re inside the stadium or not. It is truly an honor to be here with you. This night holds great significance as it’s our final performance in Germany. How amazing the German crowds have been to us over the past several weeks is beyond words. Swift declared, “We are so sad to be leaving you, but we will be back, we will be back to see you.”
This week, she will continue her immensely popular tour with three performances in Warsaw, Poland. Taylor will next make a stop in Vienna, Austria, to wrap off the European leg by flying back to London, England for five more shows.
