Elon Musk has stated that if Donald Trump is elected in November, he would extend an offer to him for a Cabinet position in the White House.
According to Reuters, Donald Trump declared on Tuesday that, should he be elected in November, he will approach Tesla CEO Elon Musk about a Cabinet position or an advising position in the White House.
The statements were made a few days after Musk interviewed Trump on his platform X. During the conversation, Trump praised Musk’s cars, saying that while not everyone should buy an electric vehicle, Musk still makes “great products.”
The Washington Post reports that Musk had already declared his support for President Joe Biden in the 2020 election. After an attempt on his life, he swiftly reversed course and came out in favor of Trump, writing on X, “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”
Trump said he isn’t “making any final decisions on” the $7,500 electric car tax credit, which Biden has since boosted, but he told Reuters on Monday that generally he doesn’t think tax incentives and credits are a good idea. “I love gasoline-powered vehicles, as well as hybrids and any new technology that comes out,” he said. He also mentioned how much he loved electric cars.
When Musk mentioned the idea of organizing a committee to ensure that “taxpayers money…is spent in a good way,” Trump replied he would “love” it and that he would be “happy to help out on.”
With a net worth of $248.6 billion as of Monday, Musk is the richest person in the world, according to Forbes.
