After dating for seven years, Chris Martin of Coldplay and Dakota Johnson have called it quits and dissolved their engagement.
According to reports, Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin, the vocalist of Coldplay, have called it quits on their lengthy seven-year romance.
A source informed Daily Mail on Friday that the ex-couple, despite earlier rumors of an engagement, “have now accepted the relationship is over— and it’s best to move on.”
The Fifty Shades of Grey actress was photographed in Malibu, California, earlier this month sans her engagement ring. The Madame Web actress has reportedly been wearing that piece of jewelry on her ring finger since 2020, according to media sources. During the European leg of Martin’s band’s “Music of the Spheres” tour, she was nowhere to be seen.
Although the exact date of the proposal is still unknown, PageSix revealed in March that they had been engaged for six years.
Dakota Johnson-Chris Martin’s relationship history
The adored pair began dating in 2017. The singer of Coldplay was formerly married to Gwyneth Paltrow, the star of Iron Man, with whom he has two children: a boy named Moses (18) and a daughter named Apple (20). In 2003, he wed Paltrow. Three years after his 2014 divorce from the Mortdecai actress, Martin started dating Johnson.
However, Johnson has also had long-term partnerships with American actor Jordan Masterson and Welsh singer Matthew Hitt.
Regarding their relationship, Johnson and Martin have kept a low profile throughout time. The leader of Coldplay had dedicated the song “My Universe” to his ex-fiancee at a Coldplay performance, despite the saying that silence speaks louder than words. In November 2023, Dakota addressed her sadness and had earlier thanked him with “pulling [her] out of” a low point.
The 34-year-old Fifty Shades actress made her festival debut in June, supporting her then-rumored fiancé at the UK’s Glastonbury Festival, which was headlined by Coldplay. In pictures published by Daily Mirror at the time, she was spotted with Martin’s kids attending the show. She once declared, “I love those kids like my life depends on it,” to Bustle. with all of my heart.
Johnson and Martin “have had ups and downs, but now they’re back on,” a source told PEOPLE in June.
It is obvious that things are not going well in their relationship if the new story is accurate.
