Protesters broke into Sheikh Hasina’s palace after she left Bangladesh, robbing her of clothes and utensils.
Hundreds of demonstrators stormed the Prime Minister’s palace in Dhaka shortly after Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister and left the country amid violent riots in Bangladesh. Videos from Hasina’s official residence shown demonstrators damaging the premises and taking clothing and kitchenware.
Social media users shared images and videos of demonstrators entering the PM palace. One video clip showed a protester lying on the bed in Sheikh Hasina’s bedroom as others searched the former prime minister’s wardrobe and personal items. On social media, the video became quite popular.

Three demonstrators were shown in another image taken from inside the official PM home, napping on Sheikh Hasina’s bedroom bed. In addition, demonstrators broke into and defaced several homes and structures connected to the political party of the previous prime minister.
Sheikh Hasina, the former prime minister of Bangladesh, left the country on Monday after her resignation was demanded by the violent quota demonstrations in Dhaka. She and her sister were shown boarding a military chopper on television.
After traveling to India, Hasina’s plane touched down at the Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The former prime minister is scheduled to arrive in Delhi, the country’s capital, shortly and is anticipated to depart for London shortly after that.
Bangladesh Army Chief Gen. Waker-uz-Zaman tried to reassure a nervous country that order will be restored when Hasina left. He said that he will consult the president for advice on creating a provisional administration after meeting with representatives of civil society and opposition MPs.
Zaman said that an inquiry into the violent suppression of student-led rallies, which stoked public discontent with the government, would be conducted by the military. He said that he gave the order to security personnel to refrain from shooting at crowds.
“Have faith in the military; we’ll look into every killing and bring the guilty parties to justice,” he declared.
