Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to speak at a significant convention of BJP office bearers in Pune, where the strategy for the Maharashtra assembly elections will be outlined. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will also address the gathering.
Maharashtra assembly elections: On Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened an important meeting with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar to strategize and prepare for the forthcoming assembly elections.
The assembly elections in the state are slated for September- October of this year.
During the meeting, the leaders also addressed the problem of insufficient local-level support between NCP and BJP workers during the Lok Sabha elections. Notably, in those elections, the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance secured 17 seats in Maharashtra, while the Opposition alliance garnered 30 seats.
Amit Shah is in Pune today
On Sunday, Shah will participate in a day-long state convention in Pune aimed at energizing BJP cadres and underscoring the importance of readiness to make necessary compromises and sacrifices for the MahaYuti’s success.
He is expected to counsel leaders and workers to enhance coordination and dialogue with allies Shiv Sena and NCP, despite the BJP’s leadership role in the MahaYuti. Shah has informed the state BJP leadership that the party will not contest the Assembly elections independently and will urge cadres to adhere to alliance principles, joining forces with Shiv Sena and NCP in a unified effort.
Additionally, Home Minister Shah is likely to advise state leaders to embrace the ‘collective leadership’ approach in executing the Assembly election strategy and in maintaining unity among the allies.
